Messages in 2001 Saturn SC2 Transmission

I have a 2001 Saturn SC2 with a transmission problem. It was slow to shift into reverse. It drove in 1st, revs to 5000 rpm and shifts to 2nd, same to 3rd. THen it stays in 1st(possibly a limp mode) I replaced with a new transmission, but the problem still exists. Any ideas on what might be wrong. Im thinking something electrical.
