Messages in Warranty work for Saturn vehicles...
<< Return to General Questions / Comments

I bought a 2007 Saturn Ion June of last year....I know now that was a mistake....first of all I was not told by the dealer that for warranty work I had to take it back a Saturn dealer (not just any Certified GM dealer *dumb*) before I purchased the car but was told they'd come get my car to fix it and bring it back to me and give me a rental car if it was going to take more than a day to fix the problem...the only dealer in the state of MS is in Jackson and that's also the closest one...I live about 90 miles away from there. This sucks because for me to get the warranty work done I have to take off work and take it up there and sit there for I don't know how long...here is what has happened so far......

I got my mom to take it to get the oil changed (she was going to be in Jackson anyway), instead of just changing the oil they did the complete 6000 mile maintenance inspection and was going to charge me over $200 for it...note we only told them to change the oil, nothing else...Thankfully my mom caught it and got them to take it off...

Later I was informed only a Saturn dealer could do warranty work on it; so when the driver's side window motor went out and the sunroof started leaking I called them to come get my car like they said they would so I wouldn't have to take off work...of course they weasled out of that saying they were short-handed because it was right before Christmas...so I had to take off work and take the car to them...they replaced the window motor and claimed they fixed the sunroof; that was December 27, 2007.

It is now May 2008 and the sunroof is leaking again. They still will not come get my car to work on it like was told to me before I purchased the car stating the reason this time is because of gas prices. I understand gas is high, but for me to take it up there for a problem that should no longer exist I have to pay for that gas and that is not right at all seeing that if they had fixed it right the first time I would not be in this predicament. They did not even try to make up for any of it.

I was told by a Certified GM Dealer that they could indeed do the warranty work on Saturn vehicles so I am going to try to get them to fix my sunroof. Maybe they will actually fix it this time. I wrote a letter and filed a complaint in March I believe it was, which came back that "only Saturn dealers could do warranty work on Saturn vehicles. Sorry for the inconvenience."

Me and my mom approached the Saturn of Jackson service department about what the GM dealer had told us and he got kind of rude and said that the GM dealer lied and only Saturn dealers could do warranty work on Saturn vehicles...which doesn't make sense because if they couldn't they wouldn't get paid if they did the work....I will NEVER buy another Saturn and will tell everyone possible not to buy one as well....I do like my ION but Saturn and the service department lies and does all they can to weasle out of things.

The only thing I can say is we learn from our mistakes...NEVER BUY A SATURN!!!

Thanks for sharing your story! Sorry to hear about your problems. The whole reason this site and forum was started was to make sure that consumers have a voice and that other people researching Saturn vehicles are aware of these issues. If we don't share our stories, others will never know! Thanks again.05/21/2008 08:39:57

I purchased a used 2005  Saturn Vue with 26k miles in February of 2007.  Since that time I have had to have the transmission replaced 3 times and the computer board or module that controls everything just shorted out at 44k miles.  The transmission replacements were under the powertrain warranty but the computer board is coasting me $460.00 to repair.  This vehicle has been nothing but trouble since I purchased it and GM takes no responsibility for the fact that this is clearly a defective vehicle.  I am comitted to never purchasing another SATURN in my lifetime.

Be warned--stay away from the VUE!!!

I too have had numerous issues with my 2005 Saturn Vue.  The transmission was replaced twice.  The A/C was worked on more times than I can count.  The Rack & Pinon was fixed..etc, etc.  I had Saturn extended my warranty for the life of my lease which is up March, 2009.  However, they moved out of my area and told me I could go to GM for warranty repair.  That lasted about one month before GM stated they will no longer service Saturn under warranty.  For a company that cares about its customers Saturn is TERRIBLE.  They just don't care.  NEVER buy a Saturn.  If you have any tech trouble with it you're up you know what creek.09/22/2008 12:47:07

I do not know why you are having so many problems. I have owned 3 saturns and have never had any problems. The one time I did have a problem outside of Warranty they fixed it and charged Saturn as a customer satisfaction issue. SATURN RULES!!!

First of all factory does not pay the the tech for somthing that he did not replaced like sun roof leak and even if he replaced the whole sun roof it gets charged back becase warranty wont pay for it they only force their techs to work for free by scaring them from csi (customer survay) and expecting you to fix the problem by adjusting things that wont work because of shitti design now you are expecting they come and pick up your car and make a pos car perfect for the cheap price that you paid for that pos car you must be crazy .why did'nt you buy a mercedes benz for 120k so all this expencess are included in price and you get a foot massage too .you paid for a pos car and now you expect perfection well guess what people like you drove saturn to bankruptcy and they over smarted you by filling bankruptcy now you are stuck by that pos you bough i hope you enjoy the ride.11/12/2009 08:24:10
